Friday Rocks!

Friday 10th February
The Trigger Men

Maybe not a familiar name, but no strangers to us, the Trigger men played at the old venue as TT Blue and we wuz well impressed by the quality of their set. Expect thear stuff from The Rolling Stones, Muse,
U2, Foo Fighters, Billy Idol, ZZ Top, TheCult, AC/DC, Nickelback and Santana. Watch them in action here in October 2011 in the Soundroom. I know you're going to love this band, apart from the fact I've been asked to book them by regulars who've seen them and recommended them highly. Come along and support another new name - you know there's nothing worth watching on the telly.
£2.50 Entry

Friday 17th February
Sticky Fingers

One of the few bonuses of booking the bands here is the chance to indulge myself with the music I like the best. I love most of the bands that play here for the Buffalos and shout for more with the rest of them, but metal is my favourite and the Stickies fill the bill for me. ANY band that plays The Green Manalishi can do no wrong in my eyes
; featuring top class music from genuinely nice guys this show will be one to remember. Come and watch guitarist Phil throw that Ibanez around whilst never missing a note. See them in action here playing some Van Halen and here covering Live Wire from AC/DC.
£3.00 Entry

Friday 24th February
The Whodlums

Considered to be one of the best Who tribute bands in the country, these guys have played the length & breadth of the UK at some major venues, see them playing 'Young Man Blues' in The Cavern in Liverpool here
. With a huge back catalogue of songs from the mid sixties through to today, there's bound to be stuff in there for everyone from originals like 'Substitute' to covers like 'Summertime Blues'. Get the magic bus along for a quick one 'cos you won't get fooled again in my generation. Can't explain why I'm shakin' all over at 5.15, but the kids are alright for a bargain of a piebald lizard.
£2.50 Entry

Friday 2nd March
Russ Tippins Electric Band

Russ Tippins needs litte introduction from me, one of the best known and most highly respected musicians on the circuit, see them playing Led Zeppelin's 'Dazed & onfused' in ottingham last year here
. With their own album of original material under their collective belts, the band have achieved national status in Classic Rock magazine's review of 'Electrickery'; read the review here. As well as their own stuff, expect to hear stuff from Zeppelin, Rory Gallagher, Edwin Starr & AC/DC. Always a night to remember, come along for an evening of the highest order of music anywhere in the North East on the 2nd March.
£4.00 Entry

Friday 9th March
Blackjack

Blackjack are a relatively new band on the circuit that were recommended to us by one of The Herd who had seen them playing elsewhere. Since then we've seen a few reviews of their performances and heard other musicians raving about them and decided we must have these guys. Watch or listen to their music here
to get a flavour of what to expect. Hear tracks from Free, Hendrix, Motley Crue, The Who & Iron Maiden from a highly talented bunch of young guys who are bringing new life to the rock circuit.
£2.50 Entry

Friday 16th March
Infinity

Infinity bring their blend of AOR to the Rock of the North on 16th March.
I'm always impressed by the quality of their instruments and PA, these guys obviously plough their earnings back into sounding good and putting on a great show. There's excellent video footage from their recent gig at The Office in South Shields here and here. This band don't only play the local circuit, so far this year they've played Sheffield, Doncaster & Bansley on top of the more local gigs in the area. Playing songs from Kansas, Journey, Foreigner & Joe Walsh this is a class act and definately one for the diary.
£3.50 Entry

Friday 23rd March
Skinflint

We are entertained by these lads on a regular basis and apart from their putting their hearts & souls into what they do, they're pretty damn good at it too. Playing classic rock from Metallica, Thin Lizzy, Ozzy & Chris Isaak watch some of their performance at the 2011 'Stormin' the Castle' here
, here, and here. A night of good, honest Rock from a cracking bunch of lads for less than the price of a pint; not to be missed.
£2.50 Entry

Friday 30th March
The Boneshakers

Another new band to the Comrades, but these lads have been around for a good few years, although not usually playing this far south of the river but for their debut at The Rock of the North, they've enlisted guitarist Micky Crystal to join them on stage for the evening.
Imagine 'The Alligators' with edge, and that's what you'll be getting 30th March, there's some excellent video footage of the band here covering Rory Gallagher's 'Messin' with the Kid' filmed at the Blyth & Tyne. Micky & Russ Hird are trading licks in an electrifying performance and playing Johnny B Good here anyone who can play this well has obviously entered some kind of pact with the Devil. I've been looking forward to this gig since I booked the band and I cannot recommend this band highly enough.
£3.00 Entry
